He not only stays up-to-date with the latest advancements in neurosurgery by participating in continuing education, he is a leader in innovation and technology. For example, he has been the principal investigator for multiple cervical disc replacement studies.
  • Dr. Raymond Walkup—Dr. Walkup is a native of Alabama. He moved to Atlanta for his neurosurgery residency at Emory University Hospital and decided to stay. He received his medical doctorate at the University of Alabama. He specializes in minimally invasive surgeries and is a member of the Society of Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery.
  • Dr. Walkup is a trailblazer when it comes to minimally invasive spine surgery, regularly participating in research and innovation. He believes it is important to continue to develop techniques that preserve muscle and nerve function, allowing patients to recover more quickly with fewer side effects.  In addition to serving his patients at Axion Spine and Neurosurgery, he is the Section Chief of Neurosurgery at Northside Hospital.
